today, i was reading my devotional book during reading period and i was so amazed by what the writer wrote. ive been thinking about my significance in life. i realised that my significance is only found in Jesus Christ. and yes, about the devotional book... i was reading about happiness. i'll just quote the whole thing.
Happiness Key concept: Wanting what you have.
The world's concept of happiness is having what we want. Madison Avenue tells us we need a flashier car, a sexier cologne or any number of items that are better, faster and easier to use that what we already have. We watch commercials and read the ads, and we become antsy to acquire all the latest fashions, fads and fancy doodads. We are not really happy until we get what we want. God's concept of happiness is summed up in the simple proverbs: "Happy is the man who wants what he has." as long as you are focusing on what you dont have, you will be unhappy. When you begin to appreciate what you already have, however, you will be happy all your life. Paul wrote in Timothy, "But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that"( 1 tim 6:6-8)Actually, you already have everything you need to make you happy forever. you have Christ. You have eternal life. You are loved by a heavenly father who has promised to supply all your needs. Nowonder the Bible repeatedly commands us to be thankful. If we really want to be happy, learn to be content with life and thankful for what you already have in Christ.i realised that our focus in life is very important. i focus on things that are eternal and not temporary. because i noe that temporary things gives temporary happiness. and this is one of the most beautiful verse ive seen...
"But whatever things we gain to me, those things I have counter as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, i count things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom i have suffered the loss of all things,
and count them but rubbish in order that i may gain Christ" (phil. 3:7,8)
