today i visited 3 patients at NUH. i shall not talk much about the first patient because i didnt talk much to him. i talked to the 1st patient at ward 57 and it was totally sian, so i decided to go ward 58.
i always think that ward 58 is scary because the nurses always stare at me like a weirdo, and the isolation rooms are at ward 58, so the atmosphere at ward 58 is always very weird. but because there wasn't anyone else i could talk to at ward 57, i went to ward 58. The nurses were quite nice actually. they told me to talk to a patient, but she was sleeping. so i walked around myself and i saw a patient i visited before. It was my 2nd time visiting him and i didn't bring the chinese chess because i thought i wont see him. i was talking to him and then he started sharing with me that his condition improved really quickly. he was saying that initally, his white blood cell count was more than 30000. normal white blood cell count is 4500-10000. but now his condition is in control and the white blood cell count dropped to normal already. anyway, he is a leukemia patient and
when he was first warded 3 months ago, his condition was really bad the doctor say he abit cannot make it.
then he told me that initally, he followed his father and was a taoist. His wife is a christian and when he was sick, the people from church and pastors came to pray for him and he became more open, and he received Christ just 1 month ago! he was about to continue his story about what happened when pastor patrick suddenly appeared and said "Hi claudia!" so pastor patrick started to chat with him and after 20mins, we went back to the topic of how he received Christ.
I think its really amazing! actually, i'm not very sure what he said exactly but his mother/ mother-in-law received Christ too! she was a buddhist and was warded in NUH. but one day, she suddenly told the pastor that she wants to be a Christian. then he said on the day his mother/mother-in-law left, he was warded. anyway, 1 month ago, he received Christ. for the first 2 months, he allowed pastors to pray for him but he still didnt want to receive Christ and his wife was abit sian already. but one pastor came and talk to him and asked him 4 questions. He told us that he could only remember one question, which is "do you want to receive Christ? yes or no?", and so he did. and
his condition improved so quickly that even the doctors found it surprising and weird.ok, i think the way i explain this is very unclear because i was too busy thinking about how great God is that i didnt catch everything he said.
i was just thinking, if he wasn't sick, he would not have known God. His wife has been a christian for more than 20 years, but God had to break her heart and their children's heart, bring them so much pain and go through so much just to show his amazing love for them and to show that
he is REAL! its so true that it in is the darkest point of life that God's light shines through.
i just felt so touched when i heard him share just now. I was fighting back my tears. It's actually tears of joy. the joy of seeing him come to know God and the joy of seeing God moving in his family. Isn't God just GREAT?
20 years, can i wait that long?
