another visit to NUH!
today i talked to an indian lady, zubaidah, who is 50years old. i think her condition is very critical. she has tumor in her gullet and there is blood clot in her heart. she would be discharged today and after 2 weeks, she'll come back for scanning and then fix a date for her operation to get rid of the tumor. when she told me her condition, i was quite worried because she told me that the tumor was very cancerous and could spread any moment. Furthermore, blood clot in the heart sounds so scary!
i think today was a very special day at NUH because usually i talk to patients about random stuff like "oh, so where do you live? do you have any children? what did u previously work as?" so its like just chatting with patients. i never share things that are deeper. but today, i managed to share more things with this patient. i think this is the first time i encouraged a first contact patient that i dont really know much about. i think God really used me to bless that patient.
finally, it was about time to leave and i asked the question "is it alright if i pray a short prayer for you?" and surprisingly, she was very willing to allow me to pray for her. at the back of my mind, i was still thinking how to react if she rejects me. so anyway, i said a short prayer to bless her and she started to tear. i was actually quite shocked when she started to cry and she just kept thanking me for praying for her. well, i think its such a privilege to be able to pray for her. when i first started serving at hospital ministry, i feel terrified to pray for patients, and i'm always afraid that they'll reject me. but i realised that you just have to OPEN YOUR MOUTH and ask the question. so far, nobody has rejected me. hee
after that, i walked around the hospital and i saw my colleague (from sushi tei) working there. she was outside ward 48 giving out the visitor pass and helping visitors open the door to the wards with the card. ok anyway, my colleague has 2 jobs, one at sushi tei and one at NUH. so i started chatting with her and shared with her and i realised that she is quite open and i'm planning to invite her to service someday. i think its very amazing that God placed me at sushi tei to meet her and it's like, shes working at NUH! so interestinggg!
btw, please join me to pray for Mdm Zubaidah, that God will heal her! no more blood clot or tumor the next time she goes for scanning!!
such great joy to be a vessel of God's heart.
