I've learned .. That I can always pray for someone when I don't have the strength to help him in some other way. ~Andy Rooneyhow true.... that was what i experienced on wednesday. the day before, i had no work so i decided that i should make a trip to NUH. the previous time i went, i did not speak to any patient because as i walk around the ward, i just didn't felt prompted to talk to any patient. everytime that happens, i feel rather discouraged..
On tuesday night, i questioned myself again... "i can't encourage patients the way ps patrick does. i can't talk the way he does.... will i be able to speak to a patient tmr?" but at the application section of that day's entry, it said:
"What has the Lord called you to do? When you are feeling discouraged or inadequate, remember that your appointment was not based on a decision by a board or your volunteerism; you are where you are at because the Lord has called you to be there."So on wednesday, i met a patient who has AML (acute myeloid leukemia). i started to share with her and tried encouraging her and she shared with me the pain she went through and she told me that if she can't find a bone marrow donar, she would give up on having chemotherapy and just live for probably a few more months. As she was sharing with me her struggles, at the back of my mind, i was thinking "i seriously dont know what to say to you, but i can only pray for you". and so, i decided to end with a simple prayer... and i realised that that is all i need to do to encourage that patient. :)
